This May has been all over the place – from 0 to 20+C in a matter of days!
Not pictured: the snow that started falling a few minutes later.
There are days when Helsinki looks like something out of a decent horror flick!
I’ve written about it before but let me talk about it again – eventually Finnish weather changes your brain, eventually you develop a thing in your head that accepts that the weather can (and will) be crappy for weeks on end you just have to go for an hour’s walk no matter what it’s like outside.
Isn’t physics a strange thing – ice is slippery but add a thin layer of water on top of that ice and it’s fifteen times as slippery!
So this thing called, “spring” – what is it exactly?
It used to take me 4 minutes to get to the gym, now it takes me 9 or so… but I do prefer the new one. No classes in the morning means no rush of random people right before 7am when I usually get out!
I had to relearn how to walk properly on icy ground. It’s all in the legs and the balance.
It’s around 4C and raining as I’m writing this. It’s mid-December. The weather’s just been crazy…
Rain in any other place would be annoying but it’s all about that proper summer experience.
Remember early July when we still thought that the heat wave wasn’t going to last?
Remember the days when we thought the heat wave was only going to last a week or two?
I remember when -16C by my window (so much higher than the temperature by the shore) was considered as “low” and surprising. Good times!
